Privacy policy.
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what information OpportunityPilot ("we", "us") collects when you use this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. By using the site you accept this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you create an account we collect your name, email address and a password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form). You may add your nationality, country of residence, education level and interests to receive better opportunity matches. If you create a talent profile we collect and publish what you choose to show: name, headline, bio, skills, rate, location, links, profile and cover image links and an optional video link. If you create a client profile we collect your company details. If you message other members, apply to a gig, buy from the shop, ask us to shortlist candidates, report a listing or contact us, we keep what you send.
Orders and payments. For purchases we collect your name, email, phone number and, for physical products, your delivery address. Card and bank payments are processed by Paystack: we never see or store your card number. For bank transfers you may upload a payment receipt, which we use only to confirm your payment.
Information collected automatically. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and protect forms, and standard server logs. To prevent abuse we keep short-lived, hashed records of sign-in attempts and some form submissions (we store a one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself). When you search and find nothing, we may store the search words (without your name or IP) to learn what content is missing. Your browser's local storage keeps bookmarks you make while signed out and remembers if you closed a promotional message.
2. How we use information
- To run your account, show opportunities that match your profile and send alerts, reminders and service messages you asked for.
- To operate the Talent Hub: show your profile, deliver proposals and messages, and notify you of activity.
- To process orders, deliver products, confirm payments and provide support.
- To keep the site safe: prevent fraud, scams and abuse, enforce our terms and respond to reports.
- To improve the site and understand how it is used.
- To show advertising and sponsored content (see below) and to meet legal obligations.
We email you only about things you asked for (such as your account, orders, messages and alerts). Newsletter subscriptions need your confirmation and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
3. What is public and what is private
Talent profiles you publish are visible to anyone who can browse the Talent Hub and may be indexed by search engines. Your email address and phone number are never shown on your profile. Messages are visible only to the people in the conversation and to our moderators if a report is made or where needed to keep the platform safe. Gigs you post are public. Reviews are public. If you add an application email to a gig, it is shown to signed-in members.
4. Cookies, advertising and sponsors
Essential cookies. We use a cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms against forgery. The site cannot work properly without it.
Advertising. Where advertising is switched on, we use Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. You can learn more at How Google uses data from sites that use its services. Where the law requires it (for example for visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom) we ask for your consent through a consent message before personalised ads are used.
Sponsored content. Some content on the site is paid for by sponsors. It is always labelled "Sponsored". When you click a sponsor link we count the click; we do not share your personal information with the sponsor.
Other services that may receive your information when you use the site: Google Fonts (to load typefaces), YouTube (a video loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain only when you press play), and image hosts such as Postimages when a member's image is displayed. These services receive your IP address and browser details as part of serving their content.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with: service providers that help us run the site (hosting, email delivery, payment processing by Paystack, and analytics or advertising providers if enabled), other members as described in section 3, sponsors only in the anonymous form described above, and authorities when the law requires it or to protect people from harm. Our providers may process data outside your country; we choose providers that protect data appropriately.
6. How long we keep information
We keep account and profile information while your account is active. Order records are kept for as long as needed for accounting, tax and dispute purposes. Hashed security records are deleted automatically after a short period. When you ask us to delete your account we remove your profile and personal details, except records we must keep by law.
7. Security
We protect the site with encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls, protection against automated sign-in attempts and regular reviews. No system is perfectly secure. Choose a strong, unique password and never share it. We will never ask for your password, bank PIN or one-time codes.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict some uses, withdraw consent and receive a copy. You can edit most information in your account, hide your talent profile at any time, unsubscribe from emails using the link in each email, and turn off message emails from your Messages page. To use any other right, contact us at contact@opportunitypilot.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
The site is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-party links
Listings, news and member profiles link to other websites we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own. Please read their policies before sharing information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. When we make important changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
